The SSWR Annual Conference offers a scientific program that reflects a broad range of research interests, from workshops on the latest quantitative and qualitative research methodologies to symposia featuring studies in child welfare, aging, mental health, welfare reform, substance abuse, and HIV/AIDS. Over 500 symposia, workshop, roundtable, paper and poster presentations. Research methods workshops designed to enhance methods expertise and grant-writing skills and special sessions on research priorities and capacity building that target cutting-edge topics vital to contemporary social work research. Pre-conference programs and a networking reception especially for doctoral students.

The Thursday plenary session and invited symposia are developed by the Vice President/Conference Chair. The Thursday morning workshop sessions are developed by the Vice President-elect. The SSWR Board of Directors and the Conference Committee provides input into the development of all invited sessions.

ePoster file submission details: 

  • Option 1: Submit poster by December 17, 2021. Posters submitted by this date will be posted on the Poster Gallery starting January 12, 2022 (first day of the conference) 
  • Option 2: Submit poster by January 3, 2022. Posters submitted by this date will be posted on the Poster Gallery starting January 17, 2022 (the day after the conference)
  • Submission deadline is Monday January 3, 2022 by 11:30 PM EST.  
  • Acceptable file formats are .ppt, .pptx or .pdf.
  • Please note that if your poster contains any animations, videos, or interactive hyperlinking, that will only be available for the in-person session.
  • If your poster presentation should have an embedded video when presented in-person on-site, please attach the video file to this submission, separately from the poster file.
  • The gallery website where the posters will be hosted preserves only a static image of each slide as if it were a page in a PDF.
  • Page size setup is 40.97" X 23.04".
  • FONT SIZE is 28 points or Larger.
  • File must be saved as Poster#.Lastname.Firstname
  • Fill out the submissions form and upload your file.

ePoster file submission details:

  • Option 1: Submit poster by December 17, 2021. Posters submitted by this date will be posted on the Poster Gallery starting January 12, 2022 (first day of the conference)

  • The best option for virtual presenters is to use Zoom or another screen recording software to record a 5-7 minute narration of the poster. 
  • The video improves gallery viewers' engagement with the poster and can better stand in for attending and presenting in-person. 
  • The other option is to submit posters as a powerpoint slide deck (PPT or PPTX) or PDF. Please note that if your poster contains any animations, videos, or interactive hyperlinking, that will only be available in-person. The gallery website where the posters will be hosted preserves only a static image of each slide as if it were a page in a PDF.
  • Submission deadline is Monday January 3, 2022 by 11:30 PM EST.

The BU Cross-College Challenge (XCC) is the Hub’s signature interdisciplinary project-based, 4-credit elective course open to juniors and seniors from all 10 undergraduate schools and colleges. (Sophomores may enroll at the discretion of an instructor.) The XCC engages students in team projects that address a real-world problem or an enduring human question. Each section is co-led by two faculty members from different disciplines. Student teams work with their faculty as well as with a variety of campus and community partners on a substantial, research-based challenge while building their knowledge and skills in 4 key Hub areas.
